“Revival” of Nazism in Baltics and Ukraine, is one of the most popular topics in Russian agitprop. Unfortunately, not all of it is just Medveput’s propaganda. But items like this ignore the other side of the coin - the rise of neo-Stalinism in Russia. Case in point - Aleksandr Filippov whom we see in this reportage. He is one of the authors of the ultra-controversial guide for teachers which, among other things, calls Stalin an “effective manager” and otherwise minimizes his crimes. There was a big scandal about it, google or click here and here.

It’s a little disconcerting, it got even worse from since the Cold War. The Baltic States glorifying their Waffen-SS collaboration in order to diss Russia, the Magyar Gárda imitating the Arrow Cross Party and hunting Roma, racism and antisemitism creeping up all over that part of Europe that got smashed between Germany and the Soviet Union since the latter fell…
This is not just the rise of the far-right in Europe, like the EDL or some western European fascists who dress up as libertarians and defenders of Western Values™. The people tapping in to the history of East vs West, Germany vs Russia in Europe are using a very creepy and unholy material with a tradition of almost 200 years to their political advantage, a history of “Volks- und Kulturbodenforschung”, of “Ostforschung” and “polska mysl zachodnia”, of “Lebensraum im Osten” and “Volksegoismus”, of “Germanisation”, “Ostflucht” and “Jewish Bolshevism”.
It’s unnerving, to say the least.
